Andy Ruiz Jr says he has lost an astonishing three stone after ballooning in weight following his conclusive rematch defeat against Anthony Joshua.
Ruiz sent shockwaves rippling through boxing by handing Joshua his first defeat in June 2019, stopping the Brit inside the distance at Madison Square Garden to become Mexico’s first ever world heavyweight champion.
However, after piling on the pounds ahead of the rematch six months later, he suffered a wide points defeat at the hands of a rejuvenated Joshua when they met for a second time.
The Mexican-American weighed a staggering 20 stone for that rematch, admitting afterwards that he spent too long “eating and partying” while celebrating his upset victory.
He has been showing off his incredible body transformation lately following a new and improved training programme, as he prepares for a comeback fight against Chris Arreola on May 1.
The Mexican-American has revealed he has lost 40lbs going into the fight, now weighing 19st 2lbs.
Speaking on his YouTube channel, Ruiz Jr. said; “Everyone will see the difference. Everyone will see my hard work, that’s what it is.
“I’m ready for my next fight. I’m ready, excited, ready to prove everyone wrong. I must have lost 40 pounds. After my fight against Anthony Joshua, my loss in Saudi Arabia, I gained up to 310lbs.
