Job Title: Legal & Documentation Officer
Location: Ikeja, Lagos
Employment Type: Full-time
Responsibilities
Legal:
- Give accurate and timely counsel to executives in a variety of legal topics
- Negotiation, drafting and implementation of the terms of agreements in all business contracts and agreements
- Collaborate with management to devise efficient defense strategies
- Responsible for providing legal support in controlling customer complaints to mitigate the risk of litigation
- Specify internal governance policies and regularly monitor compliance
- Research and evaluate different risk factors regarding business decisions and operations
- Developing and overseeing that the company meets its compliance obligations under relevant laws and the requirements of regulatory authorities
- Apply effective risk management techniques and offer proactive advise on possible legal issues
- Review all documentation that has legal implications for the company prior to signing and implemention
Documentation:
- Liaise with the management and relevant stakeholders regarding the documentation process for vendor registration with customers & clients
- Maintain document management processes, procedures and guidance material
Research:
- Conducting desktop research, and using books and other resources to gather data
- Analyzing and interpreting patterns and trends.
- Writing reports about findings and delivering presentations when required.
Requirements
To succeed in this role, you need:
- Proven experience as a Legal Counsel in business environment
- Excellent knowledge and understanding of corporate law and procedures
- Full comprehension of the influences of the external environment of a corporation
- Demonstrated ability to create legal defensive or proactive strategies
- High degree of professional ethics and integrity
- Sound judgement and ability to analyse situations and information
- Outstanding communication skills
