Nottingham Forest have continued to struggle with the challenge of keeping their star players fit as their star forward Chris Wood is forced to miss the rest of the season due to a thigh injury.
Nottingham Forest who were excited to welcome Taiwo Awoniyi back to full training after months of battling with an injury would now have to forfeit the services of Wood in their remaining games this season.
Rant HQ recalls that Nigerian forward, Taiwo Awoniyi has been sidelined since January 2023 after sustaining a groin injury.
He has spent the second longest time on the sidelines after Nottingham Forest’s midfielder, Cheikhou Kouyate who has been sidelined since November due to a hamstring injury.
Both players who did not join their national teams during the March international break are back to full training and are anticipated to be available for selection this weekend.
Unfortunately, Chris Wood who sustained a thigh injury on March 11 won’t be available when Nottingham Forest take on Wolves on Saturday, April 1.
Due to the injury, he didn’t join the New Zealand national team during the March international break.
Apart from him, Forest have injury fears concerning forwards Brennan Johnson and Andre Ayew, full-back Serge Aurier and midfielder Gustavo Scarpa.
Ahead of their game against Wolves, the club’s coach, Steve Cooper said, “It’s just something we have to deal with, we’ll put our focus into the players who are available and who are training ready to play the next game and commit to them”.
Nottingham Forest are currently sitting in the 16th spot on the league table with 26 points in 27 games, just two points away from the relegation zone.
