The Governor of Abia State, Okezie Ikpeazu, has said he is happy to be part of the five aggrieved governors of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), known as the G5 governors.

Rant HQ reports Ikpeazu was one of the five PDP aggrieved governors known as the G5 who did not support the presidential candidate of the party, Atiku Abubakar.

Ikpeazu stated that being part of the G5 governors is one of the most brilliant decisions he had taken as a politician, adding that he doesn’t regret being part of the group.

The Abia governor, who lost his senatorial bid, made this known on Thursday during an appearance on Channels Television programme, Politics Today.

He said: “I think that (being part of G5) is one of the most brilliant decisions I have taken as a politician.”

Ikpeazu stated that he was okay if losing those elections is a sacrifice for his principled position for the presidency to return to the South.

Abia: Returning Officer Happily Worked Against Other Parties To Favour Labour Party – Ikpeazu

Meanwhile, Ikpeazu has accused the Returning Officer of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Prof Nnenna Nnannaya-Oti of bias in the recently concluded 2023 governorship election in the state.

The Governor said the returning officer was clearly happy to have favoured the Labour Party (LP) in the March 18 governorship polls at the expense of other parties.
