On today’s latest Npower news, we bring to you the Minister of Humanitarian
affairs, Sadiya Umar Farouq last week activities (week in Review – 22 March
    2021).

Below are Sadiya Umar Farouq week in Review:

My week began with my attendance at the virtual launch of the Humanitarian
Response Plan (HRP) hosted by Mr. Edward Kallon, the UN Resident and
Humanitarian Coordinator. The 2021 HRP represents the final year of the
    multi-year 2019-2021 Humanitarian Response Strategy.

The imperative of the HRP is underscored by the fact that the conflict in NE
Nigeria is now in its 12th year and continues to impact Nigerians,
particularly women and children who are the most vulnerable in conflict
    situations.

The FG remains committed to addressing the plight of the affected people and
in leading the response to ensure the safety, security, and provision of
life-saving assistance to those in need, in collaboration with the
    international humanitarian community.

The overall strategic focus, as agreed in 2018, remains to address the most
critical lifesaving needs, enhance protection assistance, while supporting
resilience and recovery in the conflict-affected states particularly of Borno,
    Adamawa, and Yobe.

The scope & magnitude of the problem & the humanitarian needs required
to address them is on a scale that compels local & international partners
to work together. For this, we remain grateful to members of the humanitarian
community, donors & reps of the diplomatic community.

On our part we have inaugurated the National Humanitarian Coordination
Committee, (NHCC) which is the highest national advisory body to guide
humanitarian activities in the country. We have also, in a bid to provide
security and access for humanitarian partners, developed the National
    Humanitarian Development Peace Framework (NHDPF).

The aim is to provide longer-term sustainable solutions. We must always look
forward, beyond the immediate crisis, to ensure that we help people
re-establish their lives and strengthen communities so that we can reduce
dependence on aid and promote resilience and self-reliance.

On the same day, the FG’s Cash Grant for Rural women trains rolled into Osun
state. I was represented at the flag-off by Dr. Matthew Dada, Director of
Finance and Account @FMHDSD. The grant is expected to impact 150,000 across
the 36 states and the FCT.

On Wednesday I attended the weekly Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting
presided over by HE Muhammadu Buhari. During the meeting, important state
matters were deliberated upon and key resolutions were reached. One of which
is the approval of $1.5bn for rehabilitation of the Port Harcourt Refinery.

On Thursday, I attended the Stakeholders Consultation Meeting with the
Leadership of Federal MDAs on the Zero Draft of the Medium-Term National
    Development Plan (MTNDP) 2021-2025.

The MTNDP is expected to succeed the current Nigeria Vision 20:2020 and the
Economic Recovery and Growth Plans (ERGP) which ran its full cycle in
    December, 2020.
