A female secondary school student has been nabbed with a gun she allegedly planned on using to shoot her teacher.
A school shooting is an attack at an educational institution, such as a primary school, secondary school, or university, involving the use of firearms. Many school shootings are also categorized as mass shootings due to multiple casualties.
The phenomenon is most widespread in the United States, which has the highest number of school-related shootings, but school shootings have taken place in many countries across the world.
Nigeria has not experienced cases of school shootings in the past, and this potential tragic incident was averted.
According to Twitter user @seundreew, the unnamed secondary school student was caught in school with a local gun she allegedly planned to use in shooting her teacher.
The girl, a student of Government Secondary School in Ikot Ewa, Cross River State, was asked by a teacher to cut her coloured hair and she was allegedly angered by this.
