Former lawmaker, Senator Shehu Sani has queried the rationale behind the National Identification Number (NIN) registration.
The former lawmaker expressed that if foreigners are obliged to register for NIN, then it should not be regarded as national identity.

He also queried the motive for allocating money for national census with the data being collected during the national identity registration.
He wrote:
“If foreigners are obliged to register for NIN then it can’t be considered as ‘National Identity.’ And if all Nigerians must do it then of what use is allocating money for National Census?”
